Should I be able to get a credit card now?

I bought my first vehicle with a co-owner exactly a year ago and I was wondering if I should have good enough credit to get a credit card from, let's say, Best Buy?(I would get a secured card, but I don't have money to start one right now and I really need to finance a laptop and they have interest free for 18 months).
