Cisco Linksys E2000 Wireless Router question?

I am not familiar with routers so I do not know what all these stats mean. For example: "Selectable Dual-Band (2.4 or 5 GHz), 4-Port Gigabit Router DD-WRT/Tomato Compatible" What do these mean and is this compatible with a cable modem since I am currently using a cable modem for internet?
