How can I get my music back?

My laptop (with iTunes) was out of commission for awhile, so I just bought new music from my iPhone. But when I finally synced it back, I lost over 160$ worth of music without any warning. I know that iTunes has a no redownload policy based on the fact that "you should have made a backup," but because you can't do that on the iPhone, is there anyway I can get it back from apple without repurchasing the content? Also, I have checked my recycle bin, and I know the music has been deleted.
