OMGG !! I lost my ipod touch 4 , And I don't wanna tell my Dad I lost it , But he has the Serial number &box !?

Does anybody know how to track it my cousin said you can call apple and tell them but they have to have the serial code and I don't hace that or the box , Like I told you my dad has it ! Is there anyway I can get it off itunes ? I don't have any of those find my ipod apps on it and apple is my last choice ! ANY HELP ???
