What's a good laptop for around $800-$1000?

I don't know much about computers, maybe a little more that the average guy. I used to have a windows XP, but it's really slow now. I want lots of memory in a laptop, and lots of RAM. I suppose they come hand in hand. Anything over 5GB of RAM seems good enough to me. I'll probably use this laptop mostly for downloaded games and Internet, and I think I want a windows computer, not a mac. Any sugestions?
